Crude steel apparent consumption in the first half of the year fell 1.9% year-on-year Consumption structure is changing

July 29, "China Metallurgical News" reporter learned from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association six six council (enlarged) meeting was informed that in the first half of the year, China’s apparent consumption of crude steel fell by 1.9% year-on-year, the structure of steel consumption is changing, the proportion of steel used in the construction industry declined, the ships, automobiles, household appliances, wind power steel, photovoltaic steel and other sustained growth, and effectively support the manufacturing industry with the growth of the variety and quantity of steel.

  In the first half of the year, in the manufacturing industry, the automotive industry in the new energy vehicles and exports driven by better performance, the ship industry, the three major indicators ranked first in the world, the mechanical subsectors divergence, home appliance industry outside the cold and hot inside, the container industry continues to fall sharply; real estate industry continues to be in the doldrums.

  Looking ahead to the second half of the year, as the country actively expand demand and stimulate economic vitality policy cumulative effect of the emergence of the manufacturing industry is expected to maintain stable development; infrastructure construction will continue to power; real estate industry decline gradually stabilised, demand will be in the reduction of the new balance. Overall, steel consumption is expected to have a slight downward trend in 2023.
